Lacrosse Takes on Detroit Mercy Saturday

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking for a second consecutive victory on the road, the VMI lacrosse team will take a long journey to the greater Detroit area to face Detroit Mercy Saturday afternoon at Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan.

For parents and fans traveling to the game, the Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse ticket policy at Seaholm High School is the following:
Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at this link: https://gofan.co/app/events/577069?schoolId=MI10080. It is recommended that fans purchase tickets in advance to expedite entry to the facility. Tickets will be available at the gate and payment is via major credit card, Apple Pay or Samsung Pay, but no cash will be accepted.

VMI has faced the Titans five times before when both schools were members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and owns a 1-4 all-time record against Detroit Mercy. The Titans are now a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference. VMI and Detroit Mercy last met in 2014.
 
Scout Ripley leads the team in points this season with 14 (13 goals, 1 assist) after scoring two last week at Mount St. Mary's. Hartley Jordan also has 14 points on 9 goals and five assists this season after tallying a hat trick against The Mount to lead VMI to an 8-7 road victory, the first win over the school since 2005. Freshman Luke Rusterucci leads the Keydets in assists this year with six thus far to go with five goals for 11 combined points.
 
Josh Bass is another offensive leader with 10 points on six goals and four assists while fellow senior Michael Santos has seven goals and an assist for eight combined points.
 
Freshman defender James Boynewicz leads VMI with nine caused turnovers this year while senior Trejan Cannon is close behind with eight.
 
Goalie Jack Liselli, who was honored earlier this week as the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the win at Mount St. Mary's, is expected to start the match. The Morrison, Colorado, native has logged 50 saves this season on a 9.53 goals-against average and 58.1% save percentage. He owns a 1-2 individual record for the year after picking up his first career win at The Mount.
 
About the Titans (0-4)
 
Detroit Mercy has yet to find victory so far in 2022 but has played a difficult schedule with losses to (RV) Ohio State, #20 Michigan, #4 Notre Dame and Marquette all on the road.
 
The Titans will be playing their first home game of the season when facing the Keydets Saturday.
 
DMU is led by Brett Erskine, who has six points on the season with four goals to go with two assists. He is trailed closely by Will Edell's five points on four goals and one assist while Luke Majick has also logged four goals this season and a team-high 24 shot attempts.
 
Defender Paul Manuszak lead the Titans with nine caused turnovers and has the most groundball pickups with 23 this season.
 
Facing some of the top competition in the country, goalie Jakob Hemme has allowed 76 goals for a 19.0 goals-against average to go with 69 saves (.476 save percentage). He has faced 214 total shot attempts through four matches.
