Keydets Travel to Hampton for Monday Contest

LEXINGTON, Va. – Looking to pick up its first victory of the young 2022 season, the VMi lacrosse team travels to Hampton, Virginia, to face the host Pirates Monday afternoon at 4 p.m. at Armstrong Stadium in Hampton, Virginia.

VMI (0-2) is coming off a close 14-10 loss at the hands of Manhattan College this past Wednesday, a game that was tied at 10-10 until the final few minutes of regulation. Scout Ripley led the Keydets with four goals in the contest and now has seven for the season.

Josh Bass and Hartley Jordan also scored a pair of goals while Michael Santos and Luke Rusterucci logged one apiece. Ripley, Jordan, Rusterucci, Thomas Williamson and Jack Burke were credited with assists in the game.

Jack Liselli and Damian Levin split time in the cage for VMI.

About the Pirates (0-1)

Hampton opened the 2022 season on Saturday at Mount St. Mary's and fell by a 17-5 score to The Mount. After the 2020 season was cut short due to the pandemic, the Pirates did not field a team for the 2021 season.

Miles Fawcett led Hampton with two goals against The Mount while Andre Myers, Andre Mills and Lonnie Jones each had one. Ethan Mitchell was given credit for two assists throughout the match.

D. Williams-Sturdivant finished second on the team with five shot attempts behind Fawcett's six.

In a complete game, goalie Paxtin Powell logged 23 saves while allowing 17 goals in the loss.
