Keydets End Road Trip in Loss to Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Looking to pick up a Southern Conference victory to finish a quick two-game road swing, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 4-1 score to host Western Carolina Sunday afternoon in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

How it Happened
*The Catamounts got on the board early with a goal in the seventh minute when Katelyn Galbraith converted a penalty kick opportunity
*WCU's Isabella DeMarco found Maggie Lloyd for the game-winning goal at the 24:07 mark to put the Catamounts up, 2-0
*VMI forward Riley Boucher scored the Keydets' first ever goal in Cullowhee after Cameron Owens sent a forward pass and Boucher snuck it into the lower right corner
*DeMarco and WCU's Sophie Burchfield scored two more Catamount insurance goals in the second half for the final tally
*Boucher was credited with one other shot on goal that required a save by Western keeper Leanne Trudel. Teammate Sedona Dancu also logged one shot on frame.

The Keydets return home for a pair of SoCon matches. VMI takes on Wofford Friday at 4 p.m. at Patchin Field before hosting Furman  Sunday at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.
