Keydets Close Regular Season with Loss at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Despite tying the game early on at 1-1 apiece with a goal by VMI sophomore Lauren Fyfe, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 5-1 score to host The Citadel Sunday afternoon at WLI Field in Charleston, South Carolina.
 
Game Summary
*The Citadel got on the board with a quick strike by Suzuka Yosue in the game's second minute (1:33)
*VMI's Fyfe responded quickly in the fourth minute (3:19) when she took a cross off a free kick by Katy Layman and snuck the ball into the upper right corner to knot the score at 1-1
*Bulldog Kristi Jones earned the game-winning goal in the 17th minute off an unassisted goal by Kristi Jones.  The Citadel's Jimena Risoto notched another goal in the 18th minute (17:20) to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 advantage going into the break
*The Citadel's Yosue and Celeste Nader added two insurance goals for the Bulldogs in the second half for the final result
