Women’s Soccer Season Comes to Close in Loss to Bulldogs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Looking to advance to face No. 2 seed Samford in the second round, the VMI women's soccer team fell by a 3-0 score to The Citadel in the opening round of the 2022 SoCon Tournament Tuesday afternoon at WLI Field in Charleston, South Carolina.
 
The loss brings the 2022 season to a close for the Keydets.
 
Game Summary
*The Citadel's all-time leading scorer, Suzuka Yosue, struck early by scoring a goal in the game's seventh minute (6:05) for a quick 1-0 lead over the Keydets
*Kristi Jones of The Citadel added an insurance goal for the Bulldogs by scoring at the 18:28 mark of the opening half for a 2-0 advantage
*Yosue notched another goal early in the second half as she headed in a corner kick from Makenzie DePriest-Kessler for the final tally of the match
