Women’s Track and Field Adds Two to Signing Class

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Zack Scott announced two new signees to the 2022 recruiting class Friday morning.

Joining the Keydets are Shea Hart from Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra, Virginia, and Nathalie Lavender from Athens Academy in Athens, Georgia.

Coach Scott on Shea Hart:
"Shea Hart is a good fit to fill our need for a hurdler. When meeting with her and her parents she is more than someone who can score at the conference championships.  I have been fortunate to watch Shea compete at several meets, including the state championship.  During her visit to VMI, I was glad I had the opportunity to spend some time with Shea and her parents.  Shea truly is a self-driven student athlete capable of being a positive member of our VMI family."

Coach Scott on Nathalie Lavender:
"Nathalie Lavender is a distance runner and comes from a great program that requires their student-athletes to visit seven schools between their junior and senior years. This will allow students and parents a chance to better understand the admissions process and the athletic programs a college has to offer. Meeting Nathalie and her mother over the summer, I was impressed and when Nathalie returned with her father during the fall and met our team, she felt VMI was the school for her. I found in researching Nathalie beyond the numbers she has great potential with a strong support system that includes her coach, Neville Anderson '84, which will give Nathalie the best chance to do great things for our team."
