LEXINGTON, Va. – After months of training, the VMI track and field teams are ready to kick off the 2022 indoor track season by hosting the VMI Team Challenge set for Saturday, January 15, at the Corps Physical Training Facility in Lexington.

A large number of familiar faces return to the team including senior sprinter Jordin Poindexter, the SoCon runner-up in the 60 meter and a leg of the SoCon title-winning 4x400 team of Jonathan Gray, Trent Whittaker and Johnnie Walker, all of which return this season. Walker was the runner-up a year ago in the indoor 400-meter with a time of 49.28 seconds, and Poindexter also earned All-SoCon honors in the 200 meter by placing third overall at the SoCon Indoor Championships.

Sophomore sprinter/hurdler/jumper Keyandre Midgett returns with high expectations after earning SoCon Indoor Freshman of the Year honors a year ago.

On the women's side, several members of the 4x400 team return including Autumn Parson, Marissa Linkous and Ahliyah Williams, a group that earned All-Southern Conference honors by placing third at the SoCon Championships in 3:53.16.
