Lacrosse Honors Distributed at Annual Awards Banquet

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI lacrosse team honored its 2020-21 award winners Saturday, May 1 after its final home game at the annual awards banquet. Five Keydets were recognized and Ryan Perouty was awarded game balls for becoming a member of both the 70-Goal Club as well as the 100-Point Club.

"This group formed positive relationships and will remember this season," said VMI head coach James Purpura. "They were constantly tested but persevered through an unprecedented situation with the pandemic and challenges that were presented throughout the last year. We had a season with both some setbacks as well as some achievements. Most importantly this group really helped build a foundation and new culture that will lead VMI lacrosse into the next chapter and I couldn't be more proud of the way these men accepted and embraced all challenges."

"We graduate seven seniors and I will be forever grateful to them for their leadership. I am excited about the future with what we return, and as well as by the large incoming Rat class that our staff has put together since coming on board in July. I have confidence that this group is hungry and humble to do the work that is necessary to take this program into the next chapter of VMI lacrosse. The work they do this summer will be critical to us hitting the ground running in August when the cadets return."

Most Improved Player: Hartley Jordan
This award is given to the player that shows the most improvement from year to year or throughout a single season.

This award exemplifies a player who demonstrates the program's core values and is a role model for excelling academically, on the hill and on the lacrosse field.
