BOSTON, Mass. – VMI junior Zach Emerson and sophomore Bridger Thurston were named the America East Conference Male Swimmer and Male Diver of the Week on Wednesday, respectively, for the week of March 8.

Emerson won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.73 and the 100 free in 48.04 Saturday against Mount St. Mary's University (Md.). He also was part of the Keydet winning 400 medley and 200 free relay teams.

Thurston earned victories in the 1 meter (207.60) and 3 meter (150.45) diving competitions Saturday against Mount St. Mary's. He is unbeaten on the year in three meets in both the 1 and 3 meters.

The Keydet men's team improved to 4-0 with a 201-97 victory over the Mountaineers Saturday.

"Congratulations to both Zach and Bridger," said VMI head coach Andrew Bretscher. "Both performed admirably on Saturday and helped lead the men's team to a victory with their contributions. It is great to see them recognized for their accomplishments."

The Keydets are back in action Friday, April 2 at home against UMBC.
