THE SERIES: Saturday's meeting between VMI and Chattanooga will be the 27th in the series that began in 1971. The Mocs lead 17-8-1 and had claimed five straight in the rivalry before VMI's 31-24 win in Lexington on November 23, 2019. In Lexington meetings, The Mocs hold a 7-5 lead in the rivalry.

KEYDETS AND MOCS SQUARE OFF SATURDAY – Conference rivals VMI and Chattanooga will meet for the first time in two years when they play Saturday at Foster Stadium. It will be Family Weekend at the Institute. The Keydets and Mocs last played each at Foster Stadium in the 2019 season finale as the spring 2021 contest scheduled at Chattanooga between the teams was initially postponed, then canceled.

MOCS ENTER RANKED – Chattanooga visits Lexington Saturday ranked 19th in the AFCA Coaches FCS Top 25 poll. It will be the first ranked team the Keydets have faced in the 2021 season.

SNYDER DOUBLES UP AGAIN - Junior linebacker Stone Snyder posted back-to-back double-digit tackles when he led the Keydets with 12 tackles against The Citadel last Saturday. Snyder currently leads the VMI defensive charts with 55 tackles including 27 solo stops and had 3.0 tackles for loss for 8 yards. His 11.0 tackles per game lead the SoCon in that category.

HERRES UP THE CAREER CHARTS – Senior wide receiver Jakob Herres has moved into the #2 spot in all-time receiving yards at VMI with 2,845 yards and is second only to Mark Stock (1984-88) who had 3,091 yards in his career. Herres also logged his 13th career 100+ yard receiving game with nine catches for 115 yards against The Citadel.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE – Since returning to action two weeks ago, VMI sophomore wide receiver Chance Knox has given the offense and special teams another weapon. Against The Citadel last Saturday, Knox caught six passes for 42 yards including an 18-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter and returned a kickoff 84 yards to set up another second half score. In two games this year, Knox has 11 catches for 79 yards and two scores.

A VMI Win over Chattanooga would ...
---Be VMI's second straight win over the Mocs.
---Move VMI to 3-0 at Foster Stadium this season.
