LEXINGTON, Va. - The Furman University men's soccer team defeated VMI 3-0 Saturday afternoon on Patchin Field in the Southern Conference regular season finale of the year for both teams.
After a scoreless first 16 minutes, the Paladins struck twice in less than a minute. Conor Dowler found the back of the net at 15:57 from Jake Raine and Raine scored himself at 16:44 from Josh Hosie.
Furman led 2-0 at intermission and Sam Miller added an insurance goal at 60:30.

Furman (6-8-1/4-2) outshot VMI 12-8 and had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.
The seven-team Southern Conference Tournament will start Monday, with matchups and game times to be announced later this weekend.
