ETSU Pulls Away from VMI Men’s Soccer

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI men's soccer team kept the game close, but East Tennessee State University (ETSU) pulled away late for a 3-0 win Saturday in Southern Conference action from Patchin Field.

The game was scoreless through 15 minutes before Rayhan Carlson-Du Toit headed in a loose ball. It remained a one-goal game until just after halftime as ETSU's Tarik Pannholzer capitalized on a penalty kick. Tyson Williams scored on a Pannholzer cross for a late insurance goal.

VMI senior keeper Broden Schull made eight stops on the afternoon.

ETSU (4-5-3/1-1-2) held a 21-9 edge in total shots and a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.

VMI (1-13/0-5) has its last regular season road trip of the season scheduled for Wednesday at Robert Morris University at 2 p.m.
