Schull Breaks VMI Save Record at Liberty

Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – VMI senior Broden Schull made nine stops Tuesday night to break the program record for career saves, but the Liberty University men's soccer team defeated the Keydets 9-1 in non-conference play.

Schull now has 393 career saves, snapping the former school record set by Brian Sowell (384 saves, 2007-10).

VMI freshman forward Grant Martin scored his first collegiate goal midway through the second half.

Liberty got on the scoreboard 7:22 into the contest, then found the back of the net five times in an 18-minute span before halftime.

Michael Huss and Shane Geisler each had two goals for Liberty (6-5), while Gabe Findley, Noah Holmes, Luke Eberle and Gora Gora each had a goal.

Liberty outshot VMI 22-6 and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

VMI (1-12) hosts ETSU Saturday in a Southern Conference game at 3 p.m.
