CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Bria Anderson and Andrew Gould set seasonal bests in their top events, while Donovan Walton and Sarah Leckman recorded two more top-10 finishes to lead VMI track and field at the Virginia Grand Prix Saturday in Charlottesville.

Anderson vaulted to sixth in the SoCon rankings with a 5.68 meter (18'7 3/4") effort in the long jump, her best jump of the season and top effort since last year's SoCon outdoor meet. That was good for 12th Saturday, while Gould finished 15th in the 400 with a 49.70 clocking, also a seasonal best. That effort for Gould equaled the eighth-best time in the conference this season.

Leckman continued her strong season with a 10th-place finish in the shot put (12.59 M/41'3 3/4"), while Walton was seventh in the javelin (51.59 M/169'3"). Walton's effort was a new personal best, surpassing his 51.24 meter effort at last year's Liberty Twilight meet, nearly a year ago to the day.

Finally, James Granderson finished ninth in the long jump (6.74 meters/22'1 1/2") and Kerisha Goode was 12th in the 100 meters (12.12).

"We were encouraged by these results today," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "It is always ideal to see athletes peaking late in the year, and Bria Anderson and Andrew Gould showed today that they are doing just that. Their experience is paying off. Donovan Walton and Sarah Leckman have been great all year as well, and we foresee even greater things from them going forward."

VMI track and field returns to action Wednesday at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier in Lynchburg.
