King's PR Headlines T&F's Efforts at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Bethany King recorded a personal best in the 3,000-meters, leading VMI track and field's efforts on the final day of the Charlotte 49er Classic, contested Saturday in Charlotte, N.C.

King led the way for the Keydets with a 10:11.77 time in the 3K, good for an eighth-place finish and a substantial personal best, as her previous top effort in the outdoor 3K had been 10:25.59. King finished just over seven-tenths shy of the second-fastest outdoor 3K in school history (Jenna Vilushis (Moye), 10:11.06, 2012).

Other results included Kerisha Goode's 16th-place finish in the 200-meters (24.79), Andrew Arlint's 11th-place result in the pole vault (4.50 M/14'9") and Sarah Leckman recording a 12.83 M/42'1 1/4" effort in the shot put to finish 11th.

"We had a solid meet for our first outdoor event," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "We recorded good results and got outdoor efforts in, and now we'll go back to practice and work hard to continue to get better. We look forward to competing again in two weeks."

VMI track and field returns to action April 7 in Columbia, S.C., taking part in the Gamecock Invitational.
