Lacrosse Falls in Season Finale at High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Playing in its final game of the season, the VMI lacrosse team fell to host High Point by a 20-6 score Saturday afternoon at Vert Stadium in High Point, North Carolina.

The Panthers (9-5, 5-2) jumped ahead quickly in the match by scoring seven goals in the opening quarter while holding the Keydets (2-14, 0-7) scoreless for a large lead 15 minutes in. League-leading goal scorer Dan Lomas of High Point notched three in the frame to total 36 goals on the year.

High Point put in four more scores before VMI responded with a goal from Brad Nardella at the 4:15 mark of the second quarter. The score marked Nardella's third of the season. Moments later, teammate Wesley Sanders scored with a minute before the half for his team-best 28th goal of the year for VMI's second tally of the game. Sanders has now scored a goal in 14 consecutive games dating back to the NJIT game in late February.

The Panthers again held VMI scoreless in the third period while scoring three goals themselves for a 15-2 advantage with one quarter to play.

VMI scored four goals in the final quarter with two coming from Chris Spada and one apiece from Dan Bull and Cody Sheetz. Spada finished the game with a team-high nine shot attempts while Nardella and Sanders each logged seven.
