BOSTON, Mass. - The VMI distance medley relay finished eighth, leading the Keydets on the final day of the IC4A Championships, contested Sunday in Boston, Mass.
The DMR unit, consisting of Kyle Sabourin, Andrew Gould, Josh Willard and Jay Broom, crossed the line in 10:09.45 to easily beat ninth place Marist and earn VMI a team point in the meet. As a team, the Keydets finished tied for 42nd in the meet won by Hampton.
Other results from Sunday's action included SoCon Champion Joel Hoisington finishing 14th in the shot (15.72 M/51'7") and Jordan White placing 21st (15.10 M/49'6 1/2").
"During the indoor season, our team made many improvements," said VMI head coach Darrin Webb. "At the conference meet, both teams' point totals were the highest in several years because we continued to improve week after week. We have seen many individuals not only have lifetime bests, but have very good marks on a more consistent basis. As far as this weekend, I think the DMR did a very good job by finishing eighth. I also thought Bria Anderson in the long jump, along with Greg Henderson, Davon Guerrier and Yaa Agyepong-Wiafe all had good performances. We will now begin to prepare for the outdoor season."
VMI track and field returns to action April 1, when the team opens the outdoor campaign at the HPU Vertklasse Meet in High Point, N.C.
