BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The third season of women's water polo at the Virginia Military Institute has come to an end. And while it may not have ended on the note head coach Anna Phelps and her team wanted, the future is very bright for the young program.

The 2014 season concluded on Sunday after at St. Francis Brooklyn's SFC Aquatics Center as VMI fell in a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games. In the first tilt, the Keydets (11-20, 3-9 MAAC) dropped a 19-8 decision against Wagner College, followed by a 22-8 defeat against Iona College.

Despite Sunday's results, the program set a record for most conference wins in a season, as well as most goals scored in a single season (330), surpassing last season's mark of 275. Additionally, the Keydets will return most of its scoring next season, losing just two seniors, Molly Andoe and Justina Dunne, to graduation.

In the first game of the day, VMI saw its offense spread out among seven players as Andoe was the lone multiple goal scorer against the Seahawks. Sierra Payne, Celine Lazzaro, Heather Magill, Bailey Huddleston, Mackenzie Perkins and Cecilya Lundy all scored once. In goal, sophomore Emily Cait Farsakian made eight saves against Wagner, which has finished as the league's runner up each of the last three seasons.

The final game of the 2014 season saw another variety of scoring as seven Keydets combined for goals. Lundy led the team with two goals while Lazzaro, Huddleston, Jackson, Andoe, Payne and Dunne all scored once. Farsakian made another four stops against the Gaels.
