Former Men's Soccer Standout Signs With Rochester Rhinos

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Former Virginia Military Institute men's soccer standout Ayao Sossou has a new place to play, and this time, it's in the United States.

Sossou, a member of VMI's class of 2012, has signed with the Rochester Rhinos of the USL Professional Division, according to a statement from the team on Thursday. The former Keydet will play as a left back for the Rhinos.

The Lome, Togo native, who attended Urbana High School in Maryland, has played most recently for Tampereen Pallo-Veikot in Finland. DUring the 2013 season, Sossou logged 900 minutes in 13 appearances.

During his time in Lexington, Sossou gained plenty of experience, playing in 60 games, well over 4,700 minutes, in his four years. In that time he scored one goal and had one assist, converting a penalty kick final campaign at VMI.

The Rhinos, who play their home games at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, have not yet released their 2014 schedule, but it will be available on the team's Web site.
