CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Just hours before this year's Big South Outdoor Championships begin, VMI's Renee Reives has been named the Big South Choice Hotels Women's Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference Thursday morning.

Reives earned the honor after posting a fifth-place finish and personal best in the discus this past weekend at George Mason. There, she hurled the implement 144'1" (43.93 M) to qualify for the ECAC Championships and come up just four inches shy of Mary Grace Lemon's school record.
