Moye's School Record Leads Keydets at BSC Championships

Keydet Women Finish Second at JMU Invitational

NEW MARKET, Va. – Led by a fourth-place finish from senior Jenna Moye, the VMI women's cross country team finished second at the JMU Invitational, contested Saturday morning at the New Market Battlefield in New Market, Va.

The Keydets scored 52 points on the day, behind James Madison's A squad's total of 23 markers. Longwood placed third with 96 points, with Southern Virginia (113), Howard (131) and Mary Baldwin (134) rounding out the standings.

Moye led the way for the runner-up squad, clocking in at 19:38.60 to finish fourth and continue her strong early season, as she won the VMI Invitational on Sept. 1. Freshman Natalie Young finished 10th, timing in at 20:08, while Leah Schubel was 11th in 20:15. Michelle Church (20:37.70/14th) and Kelsey Newcomb (20:59.80/16th) rounded out VMI's top five, while Hannah Dickinson (21:52.40/25th), Nina Srikongyos (22:16/28th) and Lindsey Carty (22:47.10/33rd) also saw action.

“This was another strong race for Jenna Moye,” said VMI Assistant Track and Field/Cross Country Coach Jen Fazioli. “I look for another step forward from her in two weeks at the Paul Short, and want to commend Leah Schubel as well, as she posted another strong, steady run today.”

VMI cross country will return to action Friday, Sept. 28 as the Keydets take part in the Paul Short Run in Lehigh, Pa.
