LEXINGTON, Va. - VMI's Alex Haitsuka and Sam Roberts earned First Team All-Big South honors, and outfielder Graham Sullivan was tabbed Second Team All-Conference as the conference honors were announced at the Big South Championships, Wednesday evening at Gray-Minor Stadium in Lexington, Va.
Roberts was tabbed the First Team shortstop after hitting .347 during his final collegiate season. In the span of one month, he took over the program records for career hits, walks and runs scored, and finished in the top five in numerous other categories, including on-base percentage and batting average. This year, he was a two-time Big South Player of the Week and also earned an ECAC Player of the Week nod, along with a mention in Collegiate Baseball Hall of Fame's All-Star lineup on April 17.
Haitsuka had his finest season at the Institute, hitting .323 with six home runs. He was 7 for 10 with seven RBI in the opening two games of the UNC Asheville series, highlighting a late-season run that included his first career Big South Player of the Week honor. He hit a home run in each of his final three career games, including a solo shot in the ninth inning of the Big South Championship to account for VMI's lone run.
Sullivan earns his All-Conference honor after hitting .358 overall, a team-leading number, and .361 in conference play. He capped his regular season career by going 5 for 5 against High Point on Senior Day, a career-high hit total, and he also notched a career-best five RBI in that contest as well.
