Keydets Compete at Virginia Tech Invite

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The VMI men's swimming and diving team competed Saturday, taking part in the opening day of the Virginia Tech Invitational in Christiansburg, Va.

The Keydets sent swimmers into the pool in five of the events Saturday, with several finishes of note. Matt Dale had the sixth-best time in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 55.74 in the finals. That was VMI's best time in the event this season.

Dale was joined by Thomas Brown, who posted a fifth-place finish in the 100 fly. Brown's time of 57.06 was the second-best effort in 2010-11 by a Keydet.

Also included in Saturday's action was James Wiltshire, who was fourth in the 200 free, as well as Sam Halter, who led a contingent of VMI swimmers in the 50 free, by placing 10th (22.96). VMI captured positions 10 through 15 in that 50 free.

VMI will return to action Sunday for the final day of the Virginia Tech Invitational. Action is set to get underway at 10 a.m.
