ATHENS, Ga. - The VMI men's swimming and diving team held serve Friday, remaining in fourth place as day two of the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Championships, which are taking place at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., concluded.
The Keydets (236 points) trail leader Davidson (570), second place College of Charleston (566) and Gardner-Webb (522). VMI is in front of Howard (175) and Florida A&M (57).
Dallas Disbro captured a podium finish for the second straight day, finishing third in the 1-meter diving event. Disbro scored 200.40 points to earn that result. James Goodwillie was eighth in the 400 IM (4:11.50), while the 800 free relay team set a new VMI freshman record by clocking in at 7:36.73. That squad was Kodiak Bowers, Everett Eschbach, Thomas Brown and Jack Sullivan.
Finally, VMI fielded a 200 medley relay team in a time trial, and the squad of Matt Dale, David Hayes, Goodwillie and Ian Morales fell just short of the school record, touching the wall in 1:39.62.
VMI will be back in action Saturday, with the final day of the CCSA Championships scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
