LEXINGTON, Va.- VMI and High Point got in just four-plus innings of their regular season finale on Saturday evening before lightning and rain set in, spelling a cancellation of the contest. 

The eighth-seeded Keydets (17-33, 10-15 Big South) return to action on Tuesday evening in the Opening Round of the 2009 Royal Purple Big South Baseball Championship, taking on fifth-seeded Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m.  Should VMI win that game, the Keydets will enter the double-elimination portion of the tournament, taking on top-seeded Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded Panthers (19-30, 11-12 Big South), meanwhile, will take on seventh-seeded Charleston Southern in Tuesday's 4 p.m. Opening Round contest, with the winner also advancing to the double-elimination portion of the draw.
