Season Stats LEXINGTON, Va. -- The VMI Keydets and the Washington & Lee Generals will renew their long-time rivalry tonight as the two teams square off in the 19th Annual Lee Jackson Classic at 7:30 p.m. on W&L's Turf Field. Although the contest is a non-conference one, the annual event is always a game highlighted on the schedule before the season starts. The local foes have played each other in the regular season since 1986, and the official Lee-Jackson Classic began in 1988 when the first trophy was awarded.
In 1996, players from both schools began receiving most valuable player honors for their performances, an award tabbed the Worrell-Fallon Award. The award is named after VMI alumnus DeWitt Worrell and former Washington and Lee football coach and lacrosse official Gary Fallon.

Tony Cavalero (Annandale, Va./Annandale) has saved his best performances for the Lee-Jackson Classic, earning the Worrell-Fallon Award both times. In 2004, Cavalero received the award after winning 11 of 20 face-offs, and scooping up a game-high nine ground balls. Last year, Cavalero was an impressive 9-13 in face-offs, and scored a pair of goals in the Keydets 12-4 victory.
Last year's victory at Alumni Memorial Field marked the end of a 16-game slide against the Generals, the first victory since the inaugural game in 1988 whent the Keydets prevailed 15-9 at W&L's Wilson Field.
The Keydets (3-8, 2-5 MAAC) enter tonight's matchup winners of two of their last three games, with win's over Providence (11-7) and Wagner (14-4). Senior attackman
Robert Trimble (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) leads the Keydets this season with 16 goals and ten assists, while brother
David Trimble (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) follows just behind with 17 goals and six assists. Sophomore middie
Kevin Hill (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) is also coming off his finest performance of the season against Wagner on Sunday, where he netted three goals and two assists.
The Generals (5-5, 2-3 ODAC) come into the matchup tonight also winners of two of the last three. W&L dropped conference opponent's Guilford (13-3) and Virginia Wesleyan (11-5) before falling to 17th ranked Hampden-Sydney 8-11 last weekend. Freshman Tim Skeen leads the high-scoring Generals this season with 12 goals and 14 assists, followed by sophomore Ned Rider who has 17 goals and seven assists.
Tonight's contest begins at 7:30 p.m.
