No. 20 Louisville Overwhelms VMI Basketball, 107-56

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - It was the 700th game for the University of Louisville basketball program at Freedon Hall, and VMI could do nothing to stop the party.

The 20th-ranked Cards raced to a 16-0 lead before the game was just over four minutes old, and posted a 107-56 win over VMI Tuesday night before a sellout crowd of over 18,000 spectators.

U of L guard Taquan Dean hit nine of 12 shots beyond the three-point arc and led all scorers with 31 points.

VMI freshman forward Matt Murrer led VMI with 11 points. Keydet sophomore center Tadas Mankevicius added nine points and a career-high eight rebounds.

The Keydets played their fourth straight game without leading scorer Radee Skipworth, who has been sidelined since Dec. 6 with a sprained ankle.

The Keydets also learned that sophomore guard Levar Joseph will be ineligible for the remainder of the season for not meeting NCAA eligibility requirements for the fall semester.

VMI next plays Monday night at Old Dominion. Tipoff in Norfolk will be 7:00 p.m.

HEAD COACH BART BELLAIRS - "We knew we were going to be in a fight before we got here."

"We figured that for us to have a chance for us to beat them, they would have to have an off-night. That's as good a team as we have ever played. What's really great was how unselfish they were."
