Conway, S.C. - The VMI men's soccer team battled #14 ranked Coastal Carolina to a 0-0 first-half tie, but couldn't hold back the Chanticleers in the second-half as CCU scored five unanswered goals and defeated the Keydets 5-0 in a Big South Conference men's soccer match-up.
Coastal Carolina (8-2-0, 1-1-0 Big South) senior Joseph Ngwenya connected for two goals including the game's first at the 54:01 mark.
Sophomore Jordie Hughes, junior Mubarike Chisoni, and freshman Kevin McGeorge also added goals in the Chanticleers win.
The Keydets (2-10-0, 0-5-0 Big South) were held to just three shots on goal the entire contest.
VMI's next game is against next-door neighbor Washington & Lee on Tuesday. The Generals will play the host for the scheduled 4:00 p.m. start.
