VMI Soccer Falls at Davidson, 4-0

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The VMI men's soccer team suffered its first loss in conference play on Tuesday as the Keydets were defeated, 4-0, at Davidson's Varsity Soccer Field.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brian Douglas (Virginia Beach, Va./ Catholic) recorded three saves in the contest for the Keydets (1-3-3). VMI attempted four shots on goal, but Davidson goalkeeper Bart Creasman held strong and kept every scoring attempt out of the net.

Davidson (4-2-1) was led by forward Nick Hansell's two goals in the first half. Hansell's first goal came off a header from a direct kick from midfielder David Sartorio with 15:40 left until the intermission. Hansell's second score found the back of the net with 1:06 left in the half.

Davidson added two more goals in the second half. The first came from defenseman David Peoples 3:27 seconds into the second half. Hussein Nasreddin added the final score 6:36 seconds later.

The loss dropped VMI to 1-1 in Southern Conference play. Davidson increased its SoCon mark to 2-0.

The Keydets will make the trip to Statesboro, Ga. on Saturday and battle Georgia Southern at 1 p.m.
