Marcello joined VMI in July of 2022, after nearly two years at UNC Asheville.
On September 20, 2023, Marcello was promoted to
Associate Athletic Director for External Relations adding oversight of marketing and corporate sponsorships to his duties.
Marcello was hired by UNC Asheville in November of 2020 as Director of Athletic Communications, before being elevated to Assistant AD for Communications just 10 months later. In addition to serving as the primary contact for men's basketball, Marcello served as sport supervisor for Women's Soccer and was a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Prior to his time at UNC Asheville, Marcello worked as a Media Relations Assistant at Wofford College. In 2018-19, Marcello oversaw the communications efforts for a Men's Basketball program that would go undefeated in conference play, attain its first ever national ranking, and win its first ever game in the NCAA Tournament.
Graduating with his bachelor's in broadcast journalism (VCU) in 2013, Marcello earned his Master's Degree in Sport Management in 2017 (Millersville) and would go on to work as a Media Relations Assistant for the Southern Conference from 2017-18.
A native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Marcello resides in Fairfield with his wife Kacie.
