Katie Maher

Katie Maher enters her second season as an assistant coach for the VMI women’s soccer program.

After playing for the Blackburn Rovers Academy in England, Maher played three seasons at Division II power Concord University in West Virginia from 2017-19 before her senior season was canceled due to the CoVid-19 pandemic in 2020. She used her final year of eligibility at Limestone College in 2021.

At Concord, the Blackburn, Lancashire, England native earned All-Mountain East Conference Honorable Mention honors as a junior in 2019 after starting 16 games with over 1,300 minutes in net and conceding just eight goals for a 0.53 goals-against average to go with 34 saves. She helped the CU defense to 13 shutouts on the year – 10th in Division II – as the team allowed only nine goals, fifth fewest in the NCAA.

As a sophomore in 2018, Maher was named to the All-MEC Tournament team and appeared in 19 of 20 matches, totaling 69 saves to go with a .812 save percentage. She owned a 0.85 GAA and spent nearly 1,700 minutes in the goalie box.

Maher started 17 of 18 games as a true freshman in 2017 when she logged 1,600 minutes in the box to go with 78 saves and a 1.39 GAA. She was responsible for seven of the team’s eight shutouts on the year.

She holds a United Soccer Coaches goalkeeping license.
