Kelly comes to Lexington from Tennessee State University where he was the Assistant Director of Equipment. At Tennessee State, Kelly oversaw the distribution and ordering of equipment, uniforms and supplies for the Olympic sports, while assisting with the football equipment staff. Some of his duties included: coordinating requests from coaches and staff, preparation of playing areas and locker rooms while also coordinating travel, laundry and mail services.
Prior to Tennessee State, Kelly worked as a graduate assistant for game management, compliance and equipment at McKendree University. At McKendree, Kelly oversaw the scheduling for the 30 Division II athletic teams while helping to market athletic events and supervise student workers. Additionally, Kelly worked for the South Bend Cubs baseball team in the ticket office.
Kelly would begin his working career with the University of Kansas Tennis Team, ultimately graduating in May of 2020 with a bachelor's degree in sports management. Kelly would later attain his master's degree in business administration from McKendree in 2022.
