Trent Walker begins his fourth season on the VMI staff and now has full coaching responsibility for the entire secondary.

Walker came to VMI from Auburn University where he served three years in various capacities. During the Tigers BCS title run in 2010, Walker served as a defensive quality control coach and worked under the direction of defensive coordinator Ted Roof while concentrating his efforts on assisting with the Auburn cornerbacks and specific game-planning efforts during each week. He also helped in the development of the Auburn walk-on program by working to build a deeper, more talented program.

Walker also worked the previous two seasons as a defensive student assistant at Auburn while working on a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering which he received in August 2010. He worked on the defensive side of the ball where he assisted with the safeties, scouting reports, film breakdowns, and directed the offensive scout team.

While at Auburn, Walker participated as a staff member in the 2011 Tostitos BCS National Championship Game, the 2010 SEC Championship Game, and the 2010 Outback Bowl - all victories by Auburn.

Walker is well familiar with the environment of the military college as he attended the U.S. Air Force Academy for two years before transferring to The Plains.

Walker began his coaching career at the high school level in 2007 where he was an assistant coach handling defensive backs and wide receivers at Guntersville High School in Guntersville, Ala. He is originally from Cullman, Ala., where he attended Cullman High School.
