Nate Sievers enters his first season as the defensive quality control coach at VMI.
He comes to the Institute following two years of coaching at Frostburg State, where he oversaw the offensive line in addition to serving as the run game coordinator. At Frostburg, he helped the program achieve its best record in 10 years by directing an offensive line that averaged 164 rushing yards per game while averaging 26 points per game and 319 yards per outing. His line ranked first in the NJAC in TFL allowed and second in sacks allowed.
Prior to Frostburg State, Sievers served as an assistant coach at Southern Virginia University where he oversaw the offensive line and tight ends for the 2012-13 seasons. The 2013 SVU squad improved by 11.8 points per game (30 PPG) as his offensive line made way for an average of 178 rushing yards per game. He coached two all-conference and VaSID all-state performers to help the program achieve its most wins in school history.
From 2006-12, Sievers was an assistant football coach at Foothill High School (Henderson, Nev.), where he served as the run game coordinator and offensive line coach. He also served in the same capacity at Jerseyville High School (Jerseyville, Ill.) for a short time before starting at Southern Virginia.
While coaching high school football in Las Vegas, Sievers was also a project manager for The Korte Company where he oversaw all aspects of multi-million dollar construction projects and managed onsite teams assigned to various projects.
Sievers earned a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Bradley University in December 2003.
