Wratten joined VMI in 2024 as the Offensive Line Coach, adding Run Game Coordinator responsibilities in 2025.
Wratten came Lexington with 15 years of experience coaching including stops at Indiana and Alcorn State, where his job titles included offensive line coach and offensive coordinator.
In his first season in Lexington, Wratten coached Tyriq Poindexter to All-SoCon First Team Honors - the lone Keydet to be named First Team. Poindexter played every game in 2024, leading the team in knockdowns. Willie Dixon and Tristan Woodley figure to step in as key forces in 2025.
As the offensive line coach and later as the offensive coordinator, Wratten helped lead Alcorn State to back-to-back SWAC Championships in 2018-19 behind an offense that consistently ranked in the top 25 in multiple categories. The Braves compiled a 48-33 record during his time as a coach at the school, including a 37-17 record in the SWAC.
He served as the tight ends coach at Alcorn State from 2016-18 while also serving as the program’s recruiting coordinator.
As the offensive coordinator, Wratten coached the Braves to the 2019 SWAC Championship and an appearance in the Celebration Bowl. He developed quarterback Felix Harper into becoming the SWAC Offensive Player of the Year, and the Braves ranked top-15 in the nation in team passing efficiency.
Wratten also coached running back Niko Duffey to HERO Sports Freshman All-America honors, and wide receiver LeCharles Pringle who matched the school record with 14 touchdown catches. Additionally, offensive lineman Michael Ajumobi earned a spot on the HBCU All-America First-Team and SWAC All-Conference FIrst-Team, and Kevin Hall made the All-Conference Second-Team.
Before being promoted to offensive coordinator, he previously coached the tight ends and full backs, and served as recruiting coordinator.
As part of the offensive staff, Wratten saw the Braves rank eighth in the FCS in rushing with 291.4 yards per game in 2018. Alcorn also was top-10 in the FCS in time of possession, 13th in total offense and top-25 in scoring. The Braves led the SWAC in each of those categories, as quarterback Noah Johnson went on to win SWAC Offensive Player of the year, and running back De’Shawn Waller earned SWAC Newcomer of the Year.
Wratten came to Alcorn after having spent the previous seven seasons at Indiana University working on both sides of the ball. The last three seasons Wratten served as a Graduate Assistant working with the Defensive Line. Wratten helped the Hoosiers advance to their first bowl game since 2007 in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl and win their third straight Old Oaken Bucket Game against rival Purdue.
Wratten earned a Bachelor's of Education in 2013 and a Masters of Safety Management in 2016 from Indiana.
The Valparaiso, Indiana native was a three-year letter winner at Valparaiso High School for Coach Mark Hoffman playing both on the offensive line and as a tight end.
