Alec Lettl enters his first season as a defensive assistant for the VMI football program.
He comes to the Institute from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where he was a four-year member of the football team.
While a student at Otterbein, Lettl served as an assistant defensive line and quality control coach at nearby Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio, from January to December of 2019. He assisted in the coaching and management of the defensive line and managed the team’s film crew, the sharing of film and film analysis for the defensive side of the ball.
He also contributed to the weekly game planning for the defense, assisted with recruiting efforts, and oversaw all pre-practice game/field setup and tear down, including the drills setup and preparation of the coaching staff headsets.
Lettl served as an assistant coach at his alma mater Padua Franciscan High School during the summer of 2017.
He graduated from Otterbein with a bachelor’s degree in sport management in May of 2020.
