LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball went toe-to-toe with Western Carolina in Sunday's matinee at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium.
The Keydets (26-13, 3-9 SoCon) and the Catamounts (26-15, 8-4 SoCon) were at an impasse through the ninth inning, until a 10th-inning RBI gave WCU the win, 4-3. Both sides were productive on the bump, throwing six shutout innings.

Scoring Summary
First Inning: Bats were hot out of the gate, with both sides homering. WCU started with a solo blast, but Fitzwater one-upped the Catamounts with a three-run laser to put VMI up, 3-1.
Third Inning: WCU cut the deficit to one after a double, but Baker got out of the jam with a backwards punchout with the bases loaded.
Fourth Inning: The Catamounts tied the game on a passed ball.
10th Inning: After five innings of a deadlock, WCU capitalized in extras with an RBI single.
