PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The VMI Water Polo Team opened up Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) on Friday night, battling tough but falling at Mount St. Mary's.

Game 1 vs. La Salle – L, 14-17
- Sydney Smith leads the team with four goals
- Makynna Smith, Sadie Smith, Noa Ziv each score three
- Maddie Day has eight saves in net
- Sydney opened the scoring, but La Salle gained control and led 5-3 after the first quarter
- After the Explorers pushed the lead to eight, VMI mounted a fourth-quarter rally but fell short by three
