NORFOLK, Va. – VMI Baseball's offense lifted the Keydets to a 15-10 victory over Norfolk State on Wednesday evening at Marty L. Miller Field.
The Keydets (15-2) pick up their first road win of the season in an offensive showdown against the Spartans (2-13). VMI has won six-straight games, with three of those bouts featuring double-digit run totals for the Keydets.

Scoring Summary
- NSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
- VMI returned the favor with a seven-run second inning. Conrad's single and Prince's sacrifice fly added a pair of runs before a Spartans' fielding miscue scored the tying run. Raile stepped up to the plate and delivered a grand slam to centerfield to take a 7-3 advantage.
- The Keydets continued their surge in the third inning, once again starting with an RBI single from Conrad, and continuing with RBIs from Prince and Cook.
- NSU cut the deficit to just two after a strong third and fourth inning.
- Garner scored on a passed ball, then Raile scored on an RBI single by
Seth Buchanan to go up 12-8 in the sixth inning.
- The Spartans got those two runs back in the bottom half of the frame.
- VMI capped off the scoring by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh, then a Fitzwater two-RBI double in the eighth.
Next up for the Keydets
The Keydets return home for a three-game set against Cornell. Saturday will feature a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., with Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday's contest will be Senior Day, when VMI will honor its seven seniors during pregame.
