LEXINGTON, Va. - The VMI Water Polo Team opened its weekend competition in the VMI Invite on Saturday, falling in a tight battle to Saint Francis before losing to Bucknell.

- Saint Francis jumped out to a 6-1 advantage in the first, Keydets outscore Red Flash 4-3 in the second
- After Saint Francis got one-goal back in the third, the teams each netted four in the final frame (18-13, Saint Francis)

- Bucknell opened up by scoring four of the first five, but VMI hung close scoring three in the first and second to trail 9-6 at the break
- The teams traded scores in the third, with the Bison adding one margin to their lead before taking control in the fourth and claiming the contest
