LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Baseball picked up its eighth-straight home victory after defeating Stonehill in the series opener Friday afternoon at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium.
Despite going down early, the Keydets (8-1) picked up the pace in the middle innings to take down the Skyhawks, 8-2. All eight of VMI's runs came between the fifth and seventh innings.

Carson Taylor was brilliant out of the bullpen, going 3.1 innings with four strikeouts to get his first collegiate win.

- Stonehill threw the first punch with a two-run homer in the third inning.
- VMI's fifth, sixth, and seventh innings provided enough insurance to capture the lead and contain it.
Max Perry drove in the first run on a sacrifice fly, followed by a 390-foot bomb by Cook over the scoreboard to take a 3-2 advantage after five.
- In the sixth inning, Jordan doubled in one run, stole third, and scored on a throwing error to help the Keydets go up by three runs.
