LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's Swimming & Diving had a relay team once again earn a podium finish at the America East Championships Thursday evening at Goodall Pool in the VMI Aquatic Center.
It was the 200 Free Relay squad with
Ian Lutz,
Jack Mills,
Sam Castle, and
Matthew Picard that brought home another medal for the Keydets, finishing third (1:20.73) and breaking the team record. Lutz, Castle, and Picard medaled together yesterday in the 200 Medley Relay.
Continuing his success into the 200 IM was Mills, who secured sixth place (1:49.86). Placing in the top 10 were Lutz and Picard in the 50 Free. Lutz finished in sixth (20.13), while Picard was close behind in eighth (20.48). Lutz's 50 Free prelim time (20.01) was the second-fastest mark in the field and broke the team and Rat records.
Joshua Wolf and Castle both competed in the 50 Free, finishing 11th (20.88) and 12th (20.99) in the B-Final to add 11 more points to VMI's score.
Max Brunner capped off the event for the Keydets with a 17th-place finish in the C-Final (21.40).
Caleb Wolf and
Aubrey Struder went 17th (4:38.77) and 19th (4:42.90), respectively, in the C-Final for the 500 Free.
VMI stands in fourth place with 158 points through 15 events, 36 points shy of third place.
Next Up
Day three of the championship meet will begin at 10 a.m. with prelims, then continue with finals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
