Keydets’ relay squad claims bronze on opening night

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's Swimming & Diving medaled on day one of the America East Championships at Goodall Pool in the VMI Aquatic Center Wednesday night.
 
The 200 Medley Relay team with Matthew Picard, Ian Lutz, Sam Castle, and Layne Tucker posted a new team record (1:29.05) en route to earning bronze by five one-hundreths of a second. This is the second-straight year a VMI relay team has earned a medal in the championship meet.
 
Ryder Creal and Lane Jones went 10th and 11th, respectively, in the three-meter diving prelims. Creal scored 213.65, while Jones tallied 209.10 in six dives.
 
VMI enters the second day in fourth place with 78 points, 10 points and one place higher than last season.
 
Next Up
Day two of the championship meet will begin at 10 a.m. with prelims, then continue with finals at 5:30 p.m.
