VMI Lacrosse heads to the Naval Academy

LEXINGTON, Va. – The VMI lacrosse team looks to pick up its first win of the young season as the Keydets head to the United States Naval Academy to face the Midshipmen Tuesday night for the first time since 2015.
 
Faceoff is set for a 6 p.m. start at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland.

VMI (0-2) looks to bounce back following a hard-fought 16-12 loss to Mercer Saturday afternoon in its home opener at Drill Field 2. The Keydets led 6-4 after the opening period but fell behind by halftime with an 11-6 deficit. The Bears (3-0) put off VMI's second-half rally to add five more goals over the latter half while the Keydets registered six goals.
 
About Navy (1-1)
Like VMI, the Mids had their first game of the season canceled due to bad weather on season-opening weekend in late January.  Navy defeated Iona College by a 17-7 count on February 7 at home before traveling to #17 Towson this past weekend and took a 12-8 loss, a game which was tied at 6-6 late in the third period.
 
Mac Haley leads the offense with seven points on the year (five goals, two assists) to go with a team-high 14 shots. Alec Gregorek leads the Mids with six goals on 13 shot attempts while Ayden DiRocco and William Goers both have three scores.
 
Defenseman AJ Marsha is a returning All-American is was named to this season's Tewaaraton Award Watch List as one of the top collegiate lacrosse players in the country.
 
All-Time Series (0-8)
The matchup Tuesday night marks the first time since 2015 the schools have faced off as the schools resume an all-time series dating back to 2008. VMI and Navy played each other every year from 2008 to 2015 with the Midshipmen coming out victoriously in every contest. Navy won the 2015 game by a 21-7 score in the last meetup in 2015.

Single-game tickets for home Navy men's lacrosse games may be purchased by stopping by the Navy Ticket Office at Ricketts Hall, by calling or texting 1-800-US4-NAVY, via the internet at www.navysports.com or at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on game day.
 
There is a $10.50 charge (credit card only) to park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for all home games.
