Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

VMI falls to the Catamounts in Cullowhee

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Trailing just 39-33 at the half, the VMI basketball team struggled to keep up with host Western Carolina in the second half as the Catamounts pulled away for an 88-58 win over the Keydets Saturday afternoon at the Ramsey Center in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

The Keydets (6-15, 1-7) shot well in the first half paced by AJ Clark's nine points but went cold in the latter by scoring only 25 points on 35 percent shooting (10-28) and 33 percent from three-point range (5-15). Several Keydets were also hampered by injuries throughout the game as the Catamounts (7-12, 3-5) used their height and depth to their advantage to pull away over the final 20 minutes.

Although VMI trailed by just six at the break, the Catamounts used a pair of Julien Soumaoro three-pointers early in the second half to jump to a 14-point lead at the 18:16 mark and Western Carolina never looked back the remainder of the contest.
