About the Spartans (7-12, 3-3)
UNCG has turned the tide after a 1-8 start to the season and now has seven wins under their belt including three league wins.

The Spartans defeated Chattanooga and Samford to begin conference play before falling to Wofford and ETSU.  Last week, UNCG topped The Citadel in overtime, 69-66, before taking a hard-fought 102-92 loss to Mercer at home this past Saturday.

Four Spartans average double figures led by Justin Neely's 16.1 points per game. KJ Younger is second at 13.4 ppg while Donald Whitehead, Jr. logs 11.8. Lilian Marville also meets the criteria averaging 10.1 ppg.

Neely is the top rebounder at 11.4 boards per outing and also leads the team in assists (53) and steals (19) for the year.

All-Time Series (11-27)
VMI will look for a second straight win against the Spartans after upsetting the No. 2 seeded UNCG team at last season's SoCon Tournament in the quarterfinals. The win snapped a six-game losing streak to the Spartans.

The Keydets last defeated UNCG in Lexington on February 17, 2021, during the Covid season, an 88-77 victory at Cameron Hall.

Last Time Out: VMI 68, The Citadel 82 – Saturday, Jan. 17 – Lexington, Va.
VMI fell to rival The Citadel this past Saturday as the Bulldogs hit big buckets down the stretch to never allow a complete VMI comeback. The Keydets cut a double-digit deficit to seven midway through the second half, but The Citadel hit free throws down the stretch and key baskets to stall VMI's progress to snap a three-game skid to the Keydets.
