Keydets battle Peacocks on Monday

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Men's Soccer will play back-to-back home matches for the first time this season on Monday when the Keydets host Saint Peter's at Patchin Field.
 
The Keydets (1-3-1) cap off their homestand with a dual against the Peacocks, who also play Friday evening in New Jersey.
 
Keys to the Keydets
VMI Shutout by Liberty. The Keydets tested the Flames in a home matchup, but could not score a point as Liberty prevailed, 3-0.
 
Shot Taker. Yeirin Mejia posted five shots against Liberty, adding to his team-leading shot total. His 11 shots rank third in the conference, with his four shots on goal ranking second, tied with fellow Keydet, Thimson Duolo.
 
Young Keydets. In the 6-0 victory over Warren Wilson, all six goals were scored by freshmen. Rowen Choi and Jack Yough each tallied two goals.
 
Racking Minutes. Zack Murphy ranks in the top 50 nationally and second in the SoCon with 405 goalie minutes played. He now sits fifth in program history with over 3,400 minutes played.
 
Stat Leaders. Rowen Choi and Jack Yough lead the team with two goals apiece, while Choi leads the program with five points, ranking fifth in the conference. Sam Dowdy has dished out a team-leading two assists.
 
Life Saver. Zack Murphy ranks first in the league with 16 saves after posting back-to-back six-save matches. Murphy holds a split clean sheet after holding Warren Wilson to no goals.
 
National Ranks. VMI ranks in the top 25 in goals and points, while ranking first in the SoCon in corner kicks and corner kicks per game. The Keydets are also in the top 50 nationally in points per game, assists per game, assists, and scoring offense.
 
Year 4. Head Coach Nick Regan returns for his fourth season at the helm. Regan has collected 13 victories, ranking third all-time.
 
Scouting the Peacocks
- Saint Peter's is searching for its first win of the season, entering the weekend 0-3.
- The Peacocks host George Washington on Friday afternoon before facing VMI.
- The Peacocks have been outscored, 7-2.
- Kaloyan Somov and Tim Strele have scored one goal apiece, with Shane McCreery earning the lone assist.
