VMI Basketball announces 2025-26 non-conference slate

LEXINGTON, Va. – VMI Head Basketball Coach Andrew Wilson announced Thursday his team's non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 basketball campaign.
 
The Keydets open the season at home on Monday, November 3 against Johnson & Wales (N.C.) before embarking on a two-game road swing at Southern Indiana on November 7 and SEC opponent Missouri on Sunday, November 9 in Columbia, Missouri.
 
"I'm very excited about our non-conference portion of the schedule," Wilson said. "We will be tested in some of the most difficult environments in the country, which will help prepare us for the demands of the SoCon schedule. With the core of our team returning from last season, we are eager to challenge ourselves early in the season."  
 
Following a November 12 tip-off with Virginia University of Lynchburg at home, the Keydets will host Jacksonville University November 15 as part of the annual SoCon-ASUN Challenge initiated last season.
 
VMI then heads to Richmond for a fourth consecutive season to take on the Spiders November 19 before a week-long trip to the state of Florida beginning November 22 with a matchup at Stetson in DeLand, Florida.
 
As previously announced, the Keydets will participate in the Skechers Fort Myers Tip-Off during Thanksgiving week to face either Buffalo or Bowling Green State on November 24 and then Bowling Green State/Buffalo two days later. 
 
VMI will linger a few more days in the Sunshine State to face Big 12 opponent UCF on November 29 as VMI's second power conference opponent of the season.
 
Back to the friendly confines of Cameron Hall to open the month of December, the Keydets will face its final non-Division I opponent of the season when Christendom visits Lexington on December 5. VMI then plays host to Loyola (Md.) December 9 looking to exact revenge on a close 70-67 loss to the Greyhounds last season in Baltimore.
 
VMI closes the non-conference schedule on the road December 21 at Radford.
 
The 2025-26 Southern Conference basketball slate will be announced in the near future.
