Keydets falter despite Lloyd’s strong outing

CHARLESTON, S.C. – VMI Baseball was on the wrong end of a late comeback as The Citadel took control of the series Saturday afternoon at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
 
The Keydets (25-19, 5-9 SoCon) lost 4-2 after an eighth-inning Bulldogs surge. VMI has dropped its last five games, four of which have been to Southern Conference teams.
 


 
Key Stats
- VMI scored two runs off five hits.
- Jaxon Lloyd put on a high-quality performance, totaling 7.1 innings, allowing two earned runs, with eight strikeouts.
- Bradley Garner mashed a pair of doubles.
- With a double in the ninth inning, Grayson Fitzwater extended his on-base streak to 39 games and his hitting streak to 11.
- Boston Torres hit a clutch RBI double.
- Cole Raile earned a hit and a run.
- The two through five spots in the lineup accounted for all five hits and two runs.
