Fitzwater tallies four hits as VMI falls to The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – VMI Baseball was swept in its weekend series to The Citadel after dropping Sunday's matchup at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
 
The Keydets (25-20, 5-10 SoCon) had shining moments offensively, but the Bulldogs prevailed with an 11-8 final. VMI's offense was able to produce 15 hits, with four Keydets swinging multiple hits.

- VMI earned eight runs off 15 hits with eight RBIs.
- The Keydets drew eight walks.
- Grayson Fitzwater dominated at the plate, going four for five with three RBIs and two runs, including a double and a home run, to pair with a stolen base.
- Kazuya Jordan went three for four with two runs and an RBI.
- Owen Prince and Boston Torres had two hits apiece.
- Bradley Garner hit a two-RBI triple.

- The Keydets slowly inched their way back, with a Fitzwater RBI single in the fourth followed by a pair of RBIs in the fifth to pull within two runs.
- The Bulldogs got two back in the seventh.
- Fitzwater smoked his 15th long ball of the season, a projected 410 feet over the right field wall, in the eighth inning.
- Despite The Citadel getting two more runs in the eighth, VMI issued a potential comeback after Garner tripled in a pair of runs to make it 11-8.
